Paris Photography Tours

We offer a number of different tour routes to showcase different areas of Paris. Each tour will last approximately three hours and will introduce participants to some of the famous locations as well as a number of hidden treasures in Paris. Students of all levels of photo experience are invited to join us and to learn to work more comfortably and confidently with their cameras to capture visually striking images of the sites we will visit.

Latin Quarter Photo Tour

One of the most famous sections of Paris, this educational center of Paris with the some of the most prestigeous universities (La Sorbonne, l’Ecole Normale, Politechnique and Sciences Po) and high schools (Henri IV and Louis le Grand). Although one of the prime tourist centers of Paris, we’ll also discover many quieter and very charming corners in this section of Paris. The ancient Roman arena, rue Moufftard for a traditional outdoor market, the beautiful Luxembourg Gardens and much more.

Le Marais Photo Tour

Le Marais has become one of the most trendy and fashionable sections of Paris. Its narrow streets, tiny street corner parks and wonderful array of elegant shops and cafés. We’ll wend our way through the small streets as we explore this charming neighborhood that is one of the few to still show some of examples of  Medieval architecture. Today it is home to art galleries and independent fashion shops and innumerable wonderful cafés, restaurants and shops. Also within the Marais district is the sublime Place des Vosges.

Classic Sites of Paris Photo Tour

If you’ve only got a short time to try to take in the most famous sites of Paris, there is our Paris Classic Sites tour which will allow us to see the Notre Dame, the Louvre, the Grand and Petit Palais, les Champs Elysées and the Eiffel Tower. But rather than introduce these in the typical and clichéd way, we’ll try to find ways of capturing these ultra-famous monuments in fresh and personal ways!

Nighttime Photo Tour

We offer nighttime photo tours throughout the year with the exception of June through August when the sun sets too late in Paris to make it practical to do a three hour workshop. We’ll meet about an hour before sunset, usually in the center of Paris. We’ll discuss some of the many different technical issues before beginning to watch and photograph as the light changes. For students not having their own tripod, they are available for a modest rental fee. For this photo tour it is recommended that students possess a digital SLR camera (as opposed to a point and shoot camera). A camera that allows the user to manually set lens aperture and shutter speed settings will allow us the freedom we need to make the most beautiful photographs.

Montmartre Photo Tour

One of the original artist neighborhoods (Picasso, Braque and many others lived in Montmartre when it still was very much a village on one of the highest hilltops within Paris). There were even small working vineyards still in existence at the beginning of the 20th century. Things have changed in the 100 years since Picasso was in the area but thankfully Montmartre has managed to maintain a bohemian as well as a village-like feel. We’ll explore the hillside with its innumerable unique shops and eateries among its winding streets and many staircases as we work our way up the hill to the Sacré Coeur church.

Covered Passages Photo Tour

Les Passages–or covered streets–of Paris. These were the original indoor shopping malls–glass covered streets between two adjascent buildings. These were the elegant 19th century shopping districts. Without a guide to introduce you, these are easily missed. We’ll wander from passage to passage while taking in additional nearby sites such as the Palais Royal as we work our way from near the Louvre toward the foot of Montmartre.

Belleville Photo Tour

The Belleville District, removed from the center of Paris, is a large hilltop neighborhood which is unlike any others in Paris. This is perhaps where one can discover the real spirit of contemporary Paris, mixing young and international, high rise buildings along with small winding streets with a more provincial feel. We’ll visit the beautiful English style Buttes Chaumont garden, the world famous Père Lachaise cemetery, an old working class neighborhood with small alleys and private gardens (something almost non-existent anywhere else in Paris).

St. Germain Photo Tour

Visit the beautiful St. Germain des Près church, the Ecole des Beaux Arts, the St. Sulpice church and many charming streets filled with elegant galleries, antique and design shops as well as the old haunts of Sartre, de Beauvoir and other writers of the mid 20th century: Deux Magots and Flore cafés.
